Somewhat unexpectedly, the University of Southern California has just announced that Coach Mike Gillespie has retired after 20 years as head coach.

Congratulations to Coach for an amazing tenure at one of the most storied college baseball programs in the country.

In Gillespie's 20 years the Trojans won the '98 CWS, along with 4 other CWS appearances. USC also made 15 regionals and had 5 conference titles. Gillespie's teams also produced 94 draft picks and 25 major league players.

Go trojans. Fight on.

The Trojans have immediately hired former MLB catcher Chad Krueter as the new head coach. Krueter is currently a manager in the Rockies minor league system. He is former director of USC baseball operations. And, guess it didn't hurt, he is Gillespies's son in law; and, you may remember him when with the Dodgers, started a near riot going into the stands after a fan at Wrigley after the fan grabbed Krueter's hat So as far as this choice noidea
But good luck Coach Krueter and be warned..stay away from those Trojan hats.
