I can't believe I haven't posted this earlier.

A little over a year ago, I posted in that forum asking about one of the schools my son was considering.

Got a PM from a current player's Dad giving me his cell phone #. We talked, I got the scoop, and my Son is now at that school as a Freshman and is very happy with his choice.

Since then, that Dad and I have met a few times, and of course will be seeing each other a lot this Spring!

Great resource! Thanks HSBBW!

I want to also say how much this site has helped our son and family. I have been corresponding with a dad the entire fall who had tons of information about many of the schools that were recruiting my son. When it came down to two and we needed some quick information for our son to decide to early sign, this dad put my son in touch with a former player from one of the schools and the guy spent 1/2 hour on the phone with my son, answering all his questions and giving him a lot of information he would never have gotten elsewhere. Thanks to everyone who is willing to share information and I only hope I can help others.
Ditto. From the minute it became obvious that a service academy was seriously recruiting my son, and that he was seriously interested, I turned here for advice and information. CPLZ, who's son is a junior at West Point, has been an unbelievable source for me. He has responded thoughtfully and at length to every one of my posts, PM's, and personal e-mails. No matter how simplistic or off-the-wall my questions were, Chip took the time to walk me through what was going on, provide me with his insight, and his advice has been priceless. He even furnished contact info for a current Annapolis dad and former HSBBWebber, who also called and offered advice and support. Although I know he will modestly shrug off my thanks, I fully intend to repay his favor by staying active on this board on someday helping parents of younger players who are going through the same experiences my son and I have already lived through.
I said all that to say this- Thanks, Chip.

There were those that came before me that did the same. I am here to pay back those kindnesses and altruistic help in my own small way.

The composition of this place is very fluid. People come in, wide eyed, full of questions and wonderment. They stay, they learn, they pass on their knowledge and eventually drift away.

I always thought, after my Junior started college, "What a waste, to have learned all the recruiting process, admissions, showcases, travel ball, etc, etc, etc, and then just leave?"

It's just too bad that Waynes son chose Navy... Wink
