My 16 year old is a 2011 and his team is schedule to play in this tournament this summer. Can anyone give any details about this venue? I'm concerned that this tournament is for sophomores and not juniors.

I'm not familiar with the tournament, but just looking at what you wrote, your concern is well-founded. 16U this summer should be the 2012 class.
I've been to the 16u in Kissimmee and your son's class level doesn't matter. The amount of scouts and coaches there are truly just looking for talent they would like to sign or recruit. Not to mention they have a scout day on day 1 and the scouts are crawling all over the place. Last year there were a ton of scouts and coaches for scout day and it's super cheap to join scout day, no more than $15-$20 to get your five tools recorded, evaluated and then a player profile posted on the ABR website. Well worth it for exposure and competition.
There's a new group coming in this year that is partnered with ABR and USSSA to do the scout day this year called GetMyNameOut.com, last year the numbers were so high they are adding a performance/injury prevention test to the scout day. They will be doing the performance testing and pro style workout with ABR and USSSA. The performance testing is what a lot of the MLB teams have been using now.
