Son participated last year. Search previous comments here. For the most part I think they are accurate. Yes it is tryout and showcase for next years team.

We knew what to expect from the comments here.  I took my son and his really good friend.  His friend made the first team and will go back to FL this August. Will be interested to see what they think of that Because this event was not really one for exposure.  My son made the second team.

i felt it was a good experience if nothing more than to show him there are other talented kids out there. Also eye opening for me to see how much he needed to get into the gym and get stronger.

it is nice to give your son a reward for the hard work the put in but certainly not a must do event. If HS age already I think I would spend that money on a PG or other event.

My son played and the USSSA team in the gold medal games last year and pitched against Venezuela and Puerto Rico.  He made the team again this year and they are going to Prague.  He is just doing it for the experience and having fun. However, he does play select and they do play in PG and he also has a chance for Team USA and a few others.  But the USSSA is just a fun event for him and doesn't get the scouts like the other places.  He has already committed so he is not worried about exposure. He is just enjoying playing.
