It looks like the changes over at UT Arlington are starting to payoff.

"A day after disposing of No. 14 Oklahoma State at home, the Mavericks traveled to Austin and knocked off the 20th-ranked Longhorns, 4-3, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field."

That is awesome!

As I have said on these boards in the past, Coach Flatten helped me start the Trombly Baseball Academy when we coached together at Orange Lutheran HS (Orange, CA) back in 2003. He is a big reason that Trombly Baseball is as successful as it is today. (It should also be noted that Orange Lutheran HS is currently ranked in the top #5 nationally for high schools.) Having Flatten leave CA for TX was a big loss for So Cal baseball, but a HUGE gain for TX. He is the best INF coach that I have ever worked with and if you are a HS INF you should definately consider playing at UT Arlington. There is no question that Coach Flatten will make you a better player.

It will be fun to watch the progress of the Mavericks as they continue to improve their program. They are doing things the right way and have great coaches. There are big things in store for the UT Arlington baseball program!

Stay tuned........

1998-2001 He was the Head Coach at Pacifica HS in Garden Grove, CA.

2002-2005 He was the Head Coach at Orange Lutheran HS in Orange, CA.

In 2003 he helped me start the Trombly Baseball Academy and was the Head Coach of the 18U Trombly Braves during the summers of '03, '04, and '05.
In 2005 he helped lead our Braves to the Connie Mack World Series in Farmingon, NM in just our teams 3rd year. We have now been to 3 consecutive World Series!

He coached at Centennial HS in Frisco TX in 2006 and then that summer coached the Plano Blue Sox.

In 2007 he was the volunteer assistant at UTA and then coached the So Cal Fire during the summer.
His resume sounded familiar. He called me out of the blue before the move from California and visited our friendly digs on the East side of the lake. I didn't have a spot open and he was too qualified to volunteer. Glad to see he has taken great strides in his field. Came off as a great guy and one I wish I could have worked in the mix.
