"potentially"?

The Cardinals just won PG WWBA Underclass.  It's an excellent team which my son has pitched against.  Hard to improve on 1st place but you never know = potentially.

"Potentially" in the sense that there's no guarantee there'll be an opening at anyone's preferred position on any one of the class year teams.  We are dealing with three teams at the three age levels (classes of 2016, 2017 and 2018), and each team has different needs.  But a player who stands out should offer himself for consideration and we'll see if it's a good, mutual fit.

 

This is not a situation where we're definitely filling X number of slots.  But each team does have some position needs and we're anticipating tons of interest.  In fact, numerous players have contacted us just recently about whether there will be opportunities for next summer.  So the idea is to open that same opportunity up to everyone, not just to those who think to contact us now. 

 

On the other hand, we're not going to keep interested players on hold forever, so if it hasn't occurred to you before to come forward, hopefully this will point out to you the need to do so now, not later, to avoid missing the boat.

The 2016 team could use some depth on the mound and could add as many as 3 pitchers.  We also could add 2 OF, and 1 MIF, 1 C, if there was an elite player interested.  Also, the reality is that one kid might serve multiple rolls in this matrix.  what we actually need to do is replace Nick Butts - who is a RHP, OF, MIF and 3 hole hitter.  That could "potentially" take 1, 2, 3 or even 4 players to replace his level of contribution.

 

The 2017 team needs a thumper and a couple power arms.  The 2018 team needs some depth on the mound and possibly an INF if we decide to move up 2 of the players on that team.

 

So I say "potentially".... because, If there is no upgrade available then we will roll on with the kids who have already proved themselves worthy and rosters will just lack some depth. 

 

WE ARE NOT LOOKING TO REPLACE OUR PLAYERS.  We have room to add depth to already excellent rosters.

 

If you are interested then let me know.  We are happy to take a look at any player who believes in the Cardinal philosophy and program.   We certainly are not for everyone - and everyone certainly is not for us as well.

I am doing my best to get back to everyone ASAP and contiue to have prospects in to work out.  We will be continuing to evaluate players throughout the remainder of November and possibly into Cardinal winter workouts which begin in January.

 

We will keep looking at players until we feel the rosters are full and capped and make an announcement at that time.

 

If you still want to be evaluated for the 2018's, 2017's or 2016's team I would get in contact asap so we can begin the process.

 

2016's have added Western Branch LHP Corey Klak.  Still looking to add 1-2 arms and a position player who can play MIF, and an impact OF.

 

2017's are looking for 2 impact arms, an impact C, and another impact bat.

 

2018's are looking for 2 impact arms, possibly a C, Possibly a CIF Impact bat.

2017's: 1 impact arm

2018's: 1 arm. 1 impact bat.

 

Thank you for all those who have reached out to be considered - so many quality players who I am sure have very bright futures even if the Cardinals were not the perfect fit at this time.  We will continue to evaluate candidates until we find the right fit for everyone.
