And, BTW, a tip of the cap to Hokieone… regular and generous poster here and Prez of the Strasburg Express, who are currently tearing up the North Division, best record in the league and weren't very hospitable this year to the team my son coaches

Still, son will be at the All-Star game, supporting his players (OK, driving the van ).  Congrats, Hokie!!  Hopefully, son's team can scratch their way into the playoffs and make it interesting for you.

We had a glitch. After being assured everything was 100% go with ESPN, it was learned on Friday, 2 days before the game, that the production equipment needed some type of computer gizmo/softwear/some stupid thing to be compatible with ESPN's graphics package. We located two businesses that had it..but both were closed for the holiday. So the game was taped, with  the graphics to be inserted and shown on ESPNU later...and then it rained off and on and off and on and off and on...you get the idea. So in front of around 30 professional scouts we got the 60 yard dash, Home Run Derby, and most of BP in, then 3 innings of play,  then a downpour. Our Commissioner is recovering from surgery so I am "acting Commissioner" for a while..and have learned that boy does he get a lot of phone calls, texts, and e-mails.  But we had some wonderful people inducted into the VBL Hall of Fame, including Mo Vaughn, Juan Pierre, Lorenzo Bundy, Commissioner Bruce Alger, and Mike Cubbage. The League has a long and storied history and with 49 former Valley guys drafted this year in the MLB draft, it continues to be a strong bunch.    But we can't control the weather... Discussions are ongoing about broadcasting our Championship Series at the end of the season.
