Yes. But technically the player is not supposed to be contacted by phone until March?
Some committ while on college campus, the onlyway I can see it being done.

I don't know about the offer, but more and more are saying yes I am coming.
I understand this happens more frequently in state where "hope" scholarships are given. I also understand that many of these verbals are given by kids who have been fans all of their lives, would never consider going any where else or players of alumni.
Prepster is correct, have to make sure the choice is right always before a committment is made, before or after July 1.
Sure he can. He can make a verbal commitment at any time. The coach can make an offer at any time IF you go to his campus or if you call him. Unless it has changed, July 1st (after the junior year) is the first date a college coach can initiate contact with a prospect. Understand this only applies to the college coach initiating the contact, not the player or the parent. Players and parents can call coaches anytime they want. Therefore you could call the coach and he could make an offer to a a 7th grader over the phone if you initiated the call. Another situation: The coach can contact the player or his parents if the player or the parents are on the college campus. You do understand all this is all verbal and isn’t official until the NLI is signed. The offer and commitment can be withdrawn, ignored, or changed for whatever reason.
