As others said... sounds like you may have a slanted view. One thing to remember when you are listening in the stands to someones Fish story about how "XYZ school wanted my Son ....but..."
Its a fish story to possibly save face. Also without knowing the specifics of your situation its hard to say what did or did not happen.
Did the kid not qualify academically? Did he have off the field issues? Did he say he had a 3.0 when he has a 2.4 or score 900 on his SAT's? Where is he playing now?
IT is common practice for a Top level program to give a time limit for a player to commit once they give them an offer. BUT IMO any kid that verbally commits to UGA gets the chance to sign in November. I can speak for the last 2 years every kid that verbally committed in late Summer/Fall was able to sign in Nov and did.
Besides the slanted view there may by as Coach Merc suggests a little confusion on your part, not only about offers vs. commitment but also about the recruiting process. Just because a kid gets a letter from a school doesn't mean they are being actively recruited. Many schools will send out many letters including camp letters. Between this post and your other negative posts about UGA recruiting practices, I would say if u or the kid being recruited is so concerned go play for the nerds at GT (just a little GT humor... but thats for another website).
One last thing ...I just noticed...under your bio you list yourself as a coach and scout??? If true and you are associated with East Cobb as your name suggests how could you be asking these questions???? Any scout worth the loose change in their pocket would have a better understanding of the process and enough contacts to find and understand the truth. If you are truly a Coach/Scout who is helping kids with their college decisions (for their sake I hope not)...have enough manhood to call Coach Perno and ask him about your hypothetical situations.
