In HS federation rules, is there an infraction of "verbal interference" and if so, can you give me the citation. Runner on first, ball hit back to pitcher. The offensive team has a player on the bench that yells "2". Umpire calls both runners out, based on verbal interference. Never seen or heard of it before. Thanks!

I guessed I assumed the typical runner on first and ball hit directly at the pitcher and he can turn to second to start the double play.

I could see where the runner was trying to steal and had such a good jump he would beat the throw.

I could see where there was a bunt and it was far enough away the runner would make it to second so only play is first.

Ok my bad on that for assuming. Catcher09 I agree it's verbal in HS and pretty stiff penalty to get 2 outs.
