I see your point and would tend to agree with you. Send 'em. With the cost of DVD's between .20 and .30 cents and the cost to mail them at around .60, you could get your son's name and face out to a hundred college coaches for less that $100.00. The exchange of information is important for the college as well as the student/athlete. I would venture to say the colleges will soon begin a campaign of sending out DVD to prospective athletes. (If they haven't already) When my son was being recruited he would get unsolicited media guides mailed to our home at about $4.00 a pop.(postage only) Figure in the cost of production and you can see the electronic media will soon dominate this market.

Sometimes the respective college or university gets burned by NOT looking at every vhs or dvd that comes their way. While it's hard for the coaches to review every one, sometimes a diamond in the rough is lost. My cousin was being recruited two years ago by several D1 schools. He really wanted to attend Emory (DIII) because they had a particular program he was very interested in. He sent an unsolicted tape to their head coach with a letter explaining his strong desire to attend. He listed all of his statistics, awards, etc. and followed up with two voice mails to the coach. Emory obviously didn't even have the courtesy to respond with a "thanks, we'll get back to you". To make a long story short my cousin wound up at a D1 school, made first team all-conference as a freshman, team MVP, made the all-star team in his collegiate summer team and has had a lot of interest from pro scouts already. Imagine what he could have done for the Emory program which is like high school ball compared to the competition he plays with today.
One must realize all the letters and videos that arrive in a coaches office every day that are unsolicited--they do not have enuff time in a day to read and view each item especially when baseball season starts.

Perhaps Emory viewed it and felt he could not play for them--they are a pretty strong Division III program--it is tough to make assumptions when you do not know the facts--as tough as it is to read view every piece of correspondence it is even tougher to respond to them.
OnTheLast and Baseball is...I only check these forums once a day, so I could not get to Baseball's question about never sending videos unsolicited until now.
As TR stated, coaches do not have a lot of time to be looking through videos of every player that sends them a video. Take the money that you would have spent on postage for unsolicited videos and spend it on something more advantageous. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and money as well as the perspective coaches' time.
