A Coach at a D1 "up north" has asked for a video of my son. Well, I have nothing to send him that is recent.

He played his last game of the fall today out in Louisianna, and his lazy dad stayed home and cleaned out the garage.

So, first question is, do they want game video, or what?

Second is, should I just tell him that I'll send video in the spring when he starts playing again, or send a work out video showing him taking cuts, fielding the ball, running the 40/60?

My son is an outfielder.

I would suggest you go to our website at http://www.players-profile.com. Click on the video icon in the lefthand column. We have talked to literally hundreds of college coaches throughout the country and they have asked us to give them the following this type of video footage:
1. Interview - Name, age, class yr, grad date, school, position.
2. Running the 60 yard dash - Time it!
3. Running from home to first - Time it!
4. Hitting - Film from the openside, by example, if your son is a righthanded hitter the camera will be on the 1st base side. Get at least (10) good swings. Throw soft toss but the ball should be on a straight line. Try not to have an arc in the toss or it will cause a loop in the swing.
5. Fielding (3) flys going to his right, (3) flys going to his left, (3) flys straight away and then doing the crow hop and throwing to 3rd base. Place (2) orange cones 225' from centerfield to 3rd base and time the throw from glove to glove.

I hope this helps you! If you have any other questions you may call or e-mail me.

Keller - If a coach asks for a video, that is great news! Most players have to send videos to coaches after letting the coaches know they are interested in playing for them.
Like was said, call the coach and ask what they need on the video. If all possible, go out and film another video with your son. If it is cold where you live, indoor footage is acceptable.
I have a list of video angles I got from a website. If you are interested in these directions on how to film a excellent video, e-mail me at my personal e-mail address: Looney73@aol.com
Has anyone ever seen a complete video made by Skillshow of a catcher performing at a showcase? My son is going to the PG Underclass in FL next month and we are seriously considering hiring them, as a couple of schools have responded to my son's intro letters requesting tape. Can anyone tell me everything that Skillshow includes on a "catcher's video"? Before I spend the money I just want to make sure it will include everything that the coaches are looking for. At the last event we were at I just don't recall them filming much "catcher stuff" outside of their pop times, i.e. blocking balls in the dirt, ect... I do intend to call them but I thought I could get some feedback here first. Thanks.

I have and trust me they are the best. I don't say this because they now do the College Select Showcases but because I do not think there is another video operation that does what they do in the manner that they do it.

You cannot go wrong

I also think that if you talk with them, call Tom SR and feel free to tell him I told you to call, and tell him what you want to see and does he cover it--keep in mind they film the games as well as the drills
