I checked recent threads about Villanova - am looking for updates if anyone is aware of scholarship funding at Nova. Do they have the 11.7?

My son was recruited by them 1.5 years ago and they were severely limited in $$. Not sure about the current status but doubt that it has improved. I have not followed them, but doubt they will compete in their conference.
$50k plus so tend to recruit out of state for kids who can pay close to $40k for tuition, room and board. Below average facilities make it hard to compete for talent.
Do not believe they were are fully funded but they are able to make quality offers.
Understand that the total amount does impact the competitiveness of the team but if they make you a good offer something that you should look into....a very good school.

Three years ago I heard they had six scholarships. I heard it was going to be increased. But every year there is also a rumor some wealthy alumnus is financing a field near the campus.quote:Originally posted by dad43:

For anyone that isn't aware the field is fifteen miles from the campus with zero facilities. Not even bathrooms, just porta potties. Umpires change in the parking lot out of the trunks of their cars.
The field is the property of the Town of Plymouth Meeting Parks and Recreation. It's also the home field for the middle school team, a semi-pro team and a Legion team.
As an alum of Villanova, I have nothing but great things to say about the school. My experience as a student and player was tremendous. Scholarships are much lower than the 11.7 though which makes it tough to compete in the Big East against schools like Notre Dame, Louisville, West Virginia, etc. who I would assume have more money.

meach, did you see the $300 million plans for those two big parking lots?

Great info, folks, I really appreciate the good and the bad.
With academics the higher priority, we realize the poor facilities should be less of a concern. (Although I did cringe at the porta potty!! I am hping those days are over once he hits college!)

Villanova is a very solid choice for any student athlete for baseball
Coach Godri was offered and turned down a Head Coaching position last year. The University that approached Coach Godri was trying to upgrade their program starting with the Head Coach position.
Villanova has had a number of players drafted in the past few years.... I believe as many pitchers have been taken out of VU as any other university in the northeast. Villanova has had 2 players play in the MLB futures game in last 3 seasons.
Villanova's overall funding I believe has improved
Villanova's home ball park is on par with the traditional Big East Conference schools such as Seton Hall Rutgers Georgetown UCON and St. Johns....not in same level as a USf, Louisville or Notre Dame

This comes from an Alum that follows all the Villanova programs...... Not many Universities can compare to VU and the benefits that the VU student receives in the job market...
