Make sure that you donate some of that profit for the advertising you have done here (I saw your other post on your closeouts).

Sorry, I hate it when people use this website for their own profit and give NOTHING back.

Ebay lists you as the seller.

Just an observation.

That's correct as my friend was not interested in getting involved on the internet plus he's 70yrs old and still uses an old fashion adding machine where one has to punch in the numbers and pull the lever to calculate the total.

He even still has one of those rotary phones in the shop as well that weighs about 20lbs.

You should put those on eBay for him! Or better yet, take him to Vegas and get yourself on Pawn Stars!
At the risk of intruding ...

Braddock Sports is (was) an old-time, downtown, small town, sporting goods store in Winchester, VA that is one of those places that time has left behind. I'm from the general area and have shopped there on occassion over the years. It's one of those stores where Andy may have bought Opey his bat and glove so many years ago.

TCW ... As someone familiar with the area and the shop, I can appreciate your trying to help the owner liquidate his stock. And I'll bet there are some real treasures buried in the basement and the back room.

However, this is a Discussion forum, and not a Classifieds like Craig's List. When I saw the first posting in the VA Forum, it struck me as crossing the line, but I also knew something of the background. When you continued to "bump" the postings, and moved from the VA Forum to the General, then -- to my way of thinking -- you opened yourself up to rebuke.

As well-intentioned as your efforts may be, these posts are clearly advertising to liquidate the stock of one small business ... using the resources of another small business. I do hope that either you or your friend recognize this, and are working with Julie (MN-Mom) to make the appropriate arrangements.

It is a shame to see another small rememberance of days gone by close their doors. I wish the Owner of the shop the best. And I do hope that you and/or he will do the right thing in working with HSBBW to transition this to a paid advertising relationship.
TCWPreps,

I'll weigh in with a couple of thoughts.

As a few others have mentioned, it is very kind of you to help your elderly friend with this bittersweet task of liquidating his inventory, but I think that we should "close up shop" here now. Smile

I noticed your first few posts and decided to "look the other way" because of your good intentions plus the fact that I thought some of our members might be interested in your friend's unique inventory. But I'm concerned that we may send a confusing message by allowing multiple posts about items for sale. It's really not about whether the seller or anyone else contributes to the expenses of this site, but about being careful that we don't attract other posts regarding items for sale... unintentionally encouraging spam.

I hope you understand, and I sincerely wish your friend a happy retirement!

Julie
