Virginia Cardinals Tryouts for 2014 & 2015 players

The August tryout will be held Tuesday August 14, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland.

The tryout will begin with timed running of the 60 and continue with drills and possible scrimmages.

There are no lights at RMC, so we will definitely be done by dark, but whether we'll be done sooner cannot be forecast as we have no way of knowing at this time how many guys will be coming out to be evaluated. Please be prepared to stay into the evening hours. Water will be provided but snacks etc. should be brought.

We have confirmed that coaches from Virginia Tech, William & Mary, and Randolph-Macon will attend our tryout to gain the opportunity to evaluate all who attend for themselves -- without regard to whether or not you make the team.

We hope to have other colleges represented as well, but these are confirmed at this time.

U.Va. also now confirmed to be scouting the tryout.

While we welcome all comers, we do ask that you review information we will provide so that you know what would be required on our team and so that you can decide if it's right for you. Also there is a basic info form we need filled out prior to tryout day. So please, don't wait until the last minute!

Frontline Catchers in the 2014 or 2015 class are going to be highly regarded.

If you are one or know one then this is the place you will want to come try out.

Outside of Frontline Catchers - We are definitely in the market for a Middle infielder, a Corner infielder, 2 outfielders and about 6 pitchers for the 2013 summer team (classes '14 & '15).

We will be accepting registrations up until Monday evening at 6pm.

Ditto on the catchers--a wide open opportunity here for somebody--please contact me ASAP!

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday. It was by far our strongest tryout turnout to date, both in terms of numbers and in terms of athleticism and capabilities. We were particularly amazed at the number of guys we saw post 60 times under 6.9!

Coaches from UVA, Va. Tech, VCU, Radford, William & Mary, Christopher Newport and Randolph-Macon were there to take it all in -- 5 1/2 long hours.

Looking forward to making a roster announcement in a day or so!

Looks like a great group of young men. I'm glad to see a couple kids from Hanover on the team.

Casey has actually been with us for a year already, and as you may know he is already committed to UVA. Denton is a new addition as a result of Tuesday's tryout.

I had heard that Derek was playing for the Cardinals this summer but wasn't sure if he would continue in light of his commitment to UVA. They will likely be Hanover's two aces next spring.

They have a third pitcher who is also, as they say, not exactly chopped liver either.
