Yes, Bristow hails from Mills Godwin HS in western Henrico (Richmond area). He was an AFLAC All-American and thought to be a potential first rounder in 2005, looked on at that time more as a 3B/offensive guy, but he slipped a bit through that spring and ultimately opted to go to Auburn. Auburn didn't work out too well, but he transferred to East Carolina and had a great year, focusing on pitching now. Congratulations to him on reaching his goal of being a high pro pick.
I'm not sure how many of you remember the Virginia Storm, Virginia AAU champs in '99 (9U), 2000 (10U), 2001 (11U) or Ty Morrison from that team, his dad Scott was the coach, but Ty was selected 113th overall by Tampa Bay, 4th Round #1 pick. They moved to Hawaii last year and then relocated to Oregon before baseball season started. Congratulations Noodle, we sure missed you at Great Bridge this year.
Thanks Lynn, and don't worry, the kid may be moving but we're not going to Montana, Bristol, NC or Chicago! Besides, keeping up with the gossip around here is too much fun.
Kenny Moreland, CNU, undrafted but immediately called and signed by the Baltimore Orioles as a free agent, heading to Florida Sunday. What an up and down day!
Enough exclamation points for you? I was so hoping he would be drafted and then hoping he would sign as a free agent. Never expected it to be so quick.
