One of my HS players is interested in attending this showcase in November. I met Coach Boothe on a trip last year and seems to be a good guy. Does anyone have any experience regarding this showcase? They list a bunch of schools/scouts that may attend, is it a well attended show? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

This is a good showcase. My older son received his first notice here. The showcase does fill up (by past indications). It is more of a localized showcase than a large regional or national event. More for VA, NC possibly MD schools. It's a good showcase to get a young'en introduced to showcasing their talents and for the seasoned showcase kid as well. Something could come from it.

Pick the right weekend. Sometimes it is the first, sometimes it's the second weekend. November weather can be unsettled.

I will send my next son to the Expo at the right time. My older one ended up playing for coach Boothe. Funny how things work out sometimes.

Good luck,
Va Wesleyan has a great showcase and for the past two years the first showcase has had great weather and the second has had cold and rainy. I think the 9th is last signing date, but as long as a coach is "working" the showcase their are no rule violations. Coach Booth does a fantastic job keeping everything organized on the field and his wife keeps everything organized off the field. They are well attended and there usually are quite a few players from the northeast. Remember the second weekend falls on the 11th (Veterens Day) which is a holiday for some schools. You can e-mail Coach with any questions through the Wesleyan website.
Another showcase that is available in the area is Old Dominion, which is November 18-20. Coach Myers is doing a great job and he has a new assistant, Nate Goulet. Nate came from East Tennessee and is will be a good fit at ODU. You can go to their website for an application and the cost is $250. I'm confident that these guys will do a great job and hopefully the weather will cooperate. Though in this area sometimes it does not cooperate in July.
Good Luck to all of the athletes!!

Outstanding showcase that will give your son exposure not only to D1, D11, but also 3 of the top D111 baseball conferences in the country. During the past 4 yrs or so Christopher Newport University ( 2 yrs in a row) & Hampden Sydney have sent teams to the D111 World Series. Year in and year out teams from the Capital Athletic Conf, USA South Atlantic, and ODAC has placed teams in the top 25. These conferences will be well represented at this showcase. My son did not play AAU or particapate in showcase baseball during his early high school years and he missed his entire jr high school year with an injury. He had virtually no exposure at all. He was able to attend the VW showcase during his sr year and without this exposure he would not have the academic opportunity he has today with the education he is receiving at Hampden Sydney and throw in the dream factor of participating with his team at the 2005 D111 College World Series, well need I say more. Once again I want to thank Coach Booth for organizing such a fine event that gave my son opportunities that would not occur unless you spent thousand of dollars year in and year out exposing your son to high profile baseball. It was the best $250.00 investment I ever made.

Hampden Sydney Tigers
2005 ODAC Champions
2005 South Regional Champs
2005 Division 111 College World Series
