I would like to start a discussion regarding Vision Training in Softball vs Baseball. Our Vision Training is very popular in MLB but we have a tough time getting through to baseball people below that. Our Softball program is so so strong and coaches seem way more receptive to Gaining the Vision Edge with their hitters. Hitting is 50% Mechanics and 50% Vision we feel and with all the thousands of hitters we have worked with we can back that up strongly especially when you get to the college and pro level.

Can I get some input from all of you regarding this issue. Our program is probably 85% softball vs baseball and sometimes we even have a tough time getting in to talk to baseball people below the MLB level about our services.

We see such a drastic change in the baseball players that we do have but I feel that mechanics are way more stressed than any type of see the ball hit the ball training.

thanks and I look forward to all or your feedback.

Here is my take on it FWIW:

The higher you go in baseball the more mental the sport becomes. This is because by the time you get there you have all of the mechanics/physical aspects down. Youth players, and hitters in particular, mechanics are so far from an MLB players mechanics it is not even funny. This is why there is so much focus on the mechanical aspects. So what if you can see the ball and can't square it up properly? Once you get the swing mechanics down, I would say the next step would be the proper mental approach. Finally once you get these two down, then you have the time to focus on the visual aspects. Also at youth levels excluding the elite HS player, the ball is not coming at you with the velocity and movement that would challenge your vision.
