I think this weekends games shows the parity there is in baseball. Lots of talent out there.

I admit that I did not think the Tigers would be swept, they have some issues right now, which I am sure will be corrected. UVA's Sean Doolitle is a winner, and also my son's friend and former teammate David Adams.
Midlo Dad--I was at the game too....what was with the interference call on Hall as DJ Mitchell was stealing second? Hall was called out and didn't swing, but still interfered with the throw to second? I didn't see that part of the play as I was already looking out to second for the throw down. Did you see it? I t seemed to me to, perhaps, be the turning point in the game, aside from DJ's error in right that blew the doors of Clemson's attempt to avoid a sweep. [Coaching note: Catch the ball before coming up throwing to home.] I don't think he would have had the runner at home anyway. Great game, although I never like to see errors decide a game....

You can't leave out ODU (22-3)and have now one 11 straight. Congrats to Pat Nichols on his 10th bomb of the season the other day and Dan Hudson for his sub 1 ERA. They have a really balanced team and are looking good thus far.
Glad to fill you in as I had a front row seat for this one.

3-2 count. Home plate ump was truly terrible all day long on balls and strikes. Not biased, just terrible BOTH WAYS. Breaking pitch came in at the knees, normally a strike but hadn't been calling the knees all day. Batter took off for first, thinking he'd walked. Ump called strike three immediately, catcher got up to throw to 2nd and batter was in the way. Catcher's hand hit the batter somewhere and this caused the throw to sail high. Catcher was bruised from it and needed some warmups to resume play.

Bottom line, they got this one right, though you have to feel for the batter, who had every reason to believe this pitch would yet again be called a ball, though it should've been a strike about 20 times today.
ODU is doing great. Their hitting and pitching have been tremendous. Good games to watch. I have been to most of them including two shutouts last weekend. Miles in centerfield is as fast as they come. The weekend rotation is Gunter, Gooden(stafford) and Hudson(virginia Beach). Throw in Shawler, Wagner, Arrowood, Hall and Fetterly and ODU has something to talk about. Hope I did not leave anyone out. Quite a few Virginia boys.
Meyers is doing a fantastic job. Coach Guillet has really brought a lot to the table as well. Thank goodness that Bobby Cherry's predictions back in August were way off. This is the best start to ODU in a long time. Hopefully, the baseball gods willing, it will continue. Home
series with William and Mary this weekend. Maybe someday the local sports coverage will find the field!!!!!
Meyers is doing a few camps this summer for high school guys. You can find the info on ODU website. He does a great job!
