does anyone think maybe coaches are just being a little cautious with all the new rules and kind of waiting to see how rosters and numbers are looking this spring so that they don't over-recruit passed the max number and to make sure they have all the money figured out as they will have to up some players, they may want to see how ball goes and who they have that they feel is worth increasing their schollies to the 25% etc. I don't know or really have an opinion - just asking??
RobV - If son likes the school sign now. Why wait? If attendance at the school really depends on money offered, I doubt you will get MORE in the Spring, as schools have some money, but never MORE. Have you looked at the ACTUAL cost of attending the school? Are you aware of financial aid deadlines (fast approaching)? Main thing is to find the right FIT - but baseball and finances are only part of the picture.
From the D1 coaching staffs that I have spoken with they are doing several things during the Fall Season:

1. Signing HS pitchers
2. Trying to evaluate their present players and see which ones they need to cut or try to place at another school
3. Evaluate the HS position players that are on their list
4. Most schools are going to take one last look at the position players in the Spring. They want to see how their current position players play, which ones transfer at the semester and take a close look in the Spring. When they place 25% in a player they must be sure that the player can play now
5. Many of the bigger (top 50) programs are looking to sign JC position players that have proven themself on the college level

For the HS seniors in the class of 2008 it has been crazy for all but the "blue chip" players. The rules have changed and it will take a few years for the coaching staffs to figure out how they are going to recruit.
