carol,

Welcome to HSBBW.

Coach May is right in that Walters State is perenially one of the top JUCO's each year across the nation. You've heard the statement "We don't rebuild, we reload". That should be Walters State Banner. It's the darn truth.

This spring they actually are the youngest they have been in many years. They have players drafted and signed to D1 each year. They have I think 18 freshmen on the team this year which means they will be Sophomores for the 2011 season if that means anything. But even being young I believe they were preason ranked yet again for this spring. That is respect for a program.

My son plays for another Tenn JUCO and he is foaming at the mouth to play them...lol.

Good luck and if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

The only problem is if you are not D1 material you need not go there because you will sit the bench. They take a lot of players who will never play for them. We have had several kids go there that never played and we advised not to go there to start with.
Housing is a problem and the kids live in apartments which is not always good for freshmen.
The baseball program is fantastic. Just have to be the top player and mature enough to handle the housing. The coaches are top notch. Would let my kids go there.
