I don't personally know anyone that plays at the University of Maryland but I do know a few guys who played at Vanderbilt when Coach Bakich was the recruiting coordinator there and they all expressed very positive things to say about him.

Many schools do this type of thing at the end of their fall season. Most do some sort of World Series, splitting the squad into two teams and squaring up in a best of 5 or best of 7 series of scrimmages. Many schools also do a physical testing portion of culmination, very similar to Maryland's Omaha Challenge.

There are very few aspects of sports that bring a group of athletes together more than persevering through intense physical training together. Many times, it is what separates elite teams from others.
