Parents of pre-high school players, I just feel I need to post a WARNING:

It will take approximately 5 MINUTES for your son to advance from the stage where you are looking forward to high school baseball, to the time you are helping him pack up for college. At least that's how it feels this month, as my 6'4" 18-yr-old gets ready to move out and begin his college "career". I can still close my eyes and see that cute little boy with chubby cheeks and sparkling eyes, swinging a T-ball bat, but when I open them he is standing there with whiskers on his chin and car keys in hand, towering above me. I'm proud one moment, and ready to cry the next.

Enjoy every moment...

NM-Mom,
Sooo true! You are very observant! I don't know why that time period of time goes by so fast. I guess it gives credence to the old saying that “Time flies when you’re having fun”. That period of time is crammed full of events for these young boys/men. It is a time that creates a world of memories. I know it is a period of time that will remain etched in my mind forever. I'll always cherish the memories of the wins, the losses, the smiles, and the tears. Each event or happening has a special place in our minds.
Like most parents, I have captured a lot of this on film, tape, or some type of digital media and have most of it in within easy reach. Not often, but on occasion, I will pull down an old tape and relive the past. I don’t look at all the pictures and tapes very often. Some of them I have never looked at…. Why should I? That period of time remains vivid in my mind like it was yesterday. Maybe when I get older??? Big Grin
