I have a 2008 son, who is considering attending a January camp held at Wartburg College (Iowa) to get a feel for the campus, baseball program, etc. We've been through their website and other resources. Wartburg is coming off a DIII World Series appearance and appears to have an excellent program. Any personal knowledge out there about the type of program Coach Holst runs at Wartburg, or comments about the academics at Wartburg?

If you are looking at DIII schools in Iowa, you can't do much better than Wartburg. They have a solid program and win year in and year out. Also, they usually play against a few DI schools each year (UNI and Iowa) so that is a highlight for players. Coach Holst is a solid hitting instructor. I have heard him speak a few times and he is big on taping hitters and breaking down swings.
Wartburg has a very strong DIII (National caliber) program. Very good school, good facilities, nice town… Waverly, IA. They play in the Iowa Conference… very competitive league.

They recruit excellent student athletes and have one of the better coaches in the country. They’re big winners, on the national level of DIII.
