Wash. Post Top 10

I will go on record saying Lake Braddock is getting a little too much love. This is not a negative. Based on year after year of really dominating and consistency, I understand the rating. I just think West Springfield, South County and even Woodson have more experienced lineups. Bigger, stronger and deepr lineups. Maybe even TC can steal one from LB this year. I'm dreaming.

Indeed it would appear (according to the Post anyway) that with three teams in the Top 10, the Patriot district will be dominant in the region again this year. Another Top 10 poll of just the teams in the Northern region has Patriot teams claiming the top 4 spots.

I know it's very early, but i'm wondering, who are the teams in the Concorde/Liberty/National that have a legitimate shot to compete for the region title this year??

Preseason rankings mean diddly. What are they basing the rankings upon? Opinion and no substance. Case in point: Woodbridge, who was 0-1 when the rankings were decided upon, was rewarded with a #9 ranking before they were pummeled tonight and are now 0-2.

All the preseason rankings do is offer a basis for discussion and argument. It's the end-of-season ranking that matters.

Do you have a score for us berry? 0-2 is a bit of a surprise considering so many returning players from last year's state final team.

According to Allmetsports.com, they lost to Westfield 12-0.

Thanks Rollapair for linking to the Washington Post's list. I just heard about it yesterday, but I missed the article. Would it be possible for you to post the Top 10 list from the Virginia publication you cited? I know these preseason polls are rendered meaningless once the games begin, but the debate is fun.

I also noticed on the click through on the Post article that South County plays West Potomac tomorrow night. I wish I could make that game. I would like to see how good South County is and how far West Potomac has come.

I think the South County @ West Potomac game friday night will be South County's first game, other then a scrimmage against Mount Vernon(according to their website). Does anybody know how they did in that scrimmage? Also, have they had games rained out or did they purposely only schedule one scrimmage before starting district play? I wonder if that will hurt or help them this year...

Don't recall the exact score of the first South County scrimmage, but they won big. They have since tried to scrimmage Kettle Run twice, and have had to postpone both games due to weather/field conditions at Kettle Run.
