W&L is a relatively small (I believe about 1800 students) and academically well respected D-3 in Virginia. A former (club/travel) teammate of my son's goes there and is on the baseball team and from what I understand, loves it there. He's a SoCal boy and has enjoyed the change in enviornment to small town Virginia. Don't know too much detail, but seems like a wonderful school. My son also plays for a D-3 school (probably known more for its academics) and has also loved the experience. If you're interested, send me a P/M, happy to give you any details I can.
W&L is a great academic school with a strong alumni network. Hard to get in and has one of the best law schools in the country. Expect no help from the baseball program getting in - they have no pull in that area. Great group of coaches. Son really liked the players and program. Private school, so tuition is steep. D3, so only help is academic, grants, etc. Son was accepted and wanted on the team, but got no help from financial aid.
Outstanding school, tough academic standards, very expensive, even more if you are out of state. Very small campus that backs up to VMI campus. Lot of local support for both schools.

Having seen probably 99% of all the college fields in Virginia (DI - DIII) I would rate this school as #3 overall, only UVA and William and Mary beat it out in our opinion.
Expensive means 35+ for instate. Mary Washington is public and is probably 1/3 that for instate students. As for getting in to the school - just about as hard as ivy league. Agree that the field is nice and the party reputation is strong - but they fell from #1 in the country to #2 in the party rankings this past year. Heard the students took that pretty hard!!
