Washington Post Top 10 Baseball High Schools This Year

Trepfan, as a fellow Maryland graduate I find all of your posts embarrassing. You are so obviously blinded by what you feel are personal slights that you cannot see what is right in front of you. The MSABC is an acronym for MARYLAND STATE ASSOCIATION OF BASEBALL COACHES. I'm not sure why you cannot grasp that this MARYLAND association does not consider schools outside of Maryland. The DC private schools that you have listed are guess what...not in Maryland! The Virginia schools that you have listed are...not in Maryland. The players who reside in Maryland but play in DC or Virginia therefore do not play in schools in....Maryland. I'm fairly certain that the Washington Post Baseball Top 10 High Schools list that you have posted is a regional list and not a list of high schools in...Maryland. And by the way, if I were a coach and a kid turned down a scholarship because he didn't like my trailer, he would not be the kid for me anyway.

Here's a thought: Let's talk about the list rather than the motives for posting it. What does everyone think? Where are PVI and QO? Should St. Alban's really be right after SJC when SJC easily beat them in a scrimmage? Discuss, discuss...

Didn't PVI start 0-2. If that's right, they are where they are supposed to be - outside the top10.

Yes, PVI started 0-2 but both games were one-run losses to great teams -- CH and GC. Their performance last year and the committed players they have this year should count for something.

Severna Park v. DeMatha on Monday.

Should be interesting.

CM Wright (HARCO) beat Severna Park 12-2 yesterday.

Tournament at Calvert Hall tomorrow will tell us more, yet will not be in the Washington Post rankings. Stick that up it, Trepfan.

QO? What are you smokin?

I thought QO went to the state finals last year and lost to Severna Park... is my memory failing worse than I thought?

There is no argument that QO is having a down year. The preseason ranking was deserving based on making it to the 4A Finals last year and the overall history of the program.

They lost their best player to graduation and a good underclassman, who moved to Florida to play on one of the top teams in that State.They have a young group and should rebound.

That is why you do not understand college recruitment of top ranked HS baseball players ---- facilities are a big deal and having just attended the game this past Sunday -- the field looks terrible and the trailer is still behind left field.....

I attended Friday and Sunday's game at Shipley.
I doubt you were there. The field looks fine.
The Indoor Hitting Cage beyond the left
field fence is awesome. When in the stands or on the nice field at Shipley, one can not see beyond the Indoor Hitting Cage. So you could not have seen what you think you saw while in the stands.

Thoughts? I was glad to see PVI made it... surprised that Good Counsel so much below SJC after beating them... DeMatha beating SP so resoundingly will have a big impact on the next rankings (although I hear SP did not throw their top guy.)

Who pitched for St Johns today against Tampa Jesuit? Huge loss to a great team.

St Johns lost twice in the Easter Jesuit tourney.... To Jesuit 21-4 (wow) and then to St. Pete Catholic 11-8.... Jesuit did win the tourney pretty easily...

The loss to St. Pete (also a Florida team) was 7-4, not 11-8. Pitching had nothing to do with either loss.

WOW. 28 runs in two games and pitching had NOTHING to do with it. Can you expound on that one a little bit?

I know Tampa Jesuit is an awesome team, but they batted around the order THREE times in the second inning. Game was run ruled after 5 innings.

Gonzaga held Tampa to 9 runs through 7 innings- only 5 or 6 earned.

So what does "Pitching had nothing to do with either loss" mean?

18 hits........everybody should pitch like that.

The SJC kids were just too nervous. There were not 18 hits. The vast majority of the Jesuit kids got on base due to errors and missed plays.

Darn that Tampa newspaper making up that ficticious box score just to belittle those nervous little St. John's boys.

Terrible umpiring also. Jesuit hit a ball down first base foul and the first base coach jumped out of the way. The umpire called it fair! I don't like calling out umpires but it was very evident during this game who was getting homered!

The Tampa paper got the box scores from Jesuit. I'm sure the SJC books show something quite different.

The long running 16 year Maryland based Bear Classic was modeled after this event.
