The difference between a Major leaguer and a Minor leaguer is the talent and talent only.
Most minor leaguers are wasting their time to fullfill a pipe dream.

Star Dad,

You couldn't be farther from the truth with this comment. Once you reach AA, the talent level with position players is basically the same as the show. Some people would say it is easier to play/hit in the big leagues due to the improved playing fields, lights, conditions and easier travel schedule. At this point you need luck, timing and be in an organization that needs you at the position you play. Economics also factor into the equation. Most minor league players don't make the show but it isn't a waste of time to do something you love to fulfill a dream. Where would our country be if no-one pursued their dreams?
Hard work can make you better. Ask any athlete, student or professional in the work place.

I suppose your dander was raised due to the replys to your comments but your son will need good fortune to have the oppertunity to play professional baseball. When and if he does, he will be just like every other piece of "wasted lumber" you referenced. There is a stud in every town across the world. The difference is what lies in the players heart and brain. You have to remember, many are called but few are chosen.

TRHit: well, what ever you say. I will just give my thought on the topic of my own interest.
When I was a Kid, I went to a science show. There is a machine to test people's reaction time. It's like a very old fashioned video car game. It works this way. When you see green light, you use your feet hit the gas paddle and hold on it, and when it changes to red light, you hit the break paddle. I scored the highest score possible. It called something like "Supper fast reaction" while others only scored "average" or "good." I was very proud of myself. Although it's like testing the feet and eye coordination, I think it is much more harder compare to the hand and eye coordination. So I want someone to design a machine, which can test baseball players hand and eye coordination combine with the strength and accuracy of their hitting. Thus future minor league player will know if they are major league bound before they commit all their life into it. I hate to brag, but my son inherent my fast reaction brain power and he is an athelet. He will be a great player in four years. Believe it or not, I will tell you the result in the year 2011. No more bragging for me from now on. I don't want talk to you "going pro" thread people anymore. So I come to the "pre-high school" thread here. Because I still have four years to enjoy my son's high school time. I don't want talk to you "internet bully" until 2011.

If you are the same as other talented player in AA, you are not the "talents" I am looking for. I want the super talent not average talent, I want the A-Rod kind of talent or forget about playing baseball.
Although I have to say, most of major league players are just as talented as A-Rod in any position. That is the reason 90% of minors player won't make it. You can call it luck, but I think is because minor league players are average.
