On this rainy day I've found a bit more time to check out other forums on this site...

There was a youtube attachment on how Tomball HS cleared the field prior to game time. The message was there was a sense of responsibility put forth for these kids. It was pretty cool to watch...

While watching it I noticed another video.

This video will display what most every ballplayer will remember when his playing days are over. They won't remember their batting averages or HR's. They won't remember the strikeouts or the shutouts. No showcases or all tournament teams.

These are the moments they will remember.

So don't sweat the small stuff folks. It's all just details.

In case you wanted to watch another on the field clean up... I like this coach.

I think that video (not the field cleanup, the other one) illustrates why kids like to play on their HS teams. Summer ball with the "club" teams often gets a little overly serious..."professional" if you will. Is the overall competition better on the summer club teams, sure it is. But the fun and spirit factor isn't close to the same as they get on HS teams.

Don't sweat the small stuff, indeed. You can play good baseball with good instruction without turning it into a job for HS teens. Good video, Ken.

You make good points Husker.

I can only speak for our team, but I can tell you last year we had team meetings in the swimming pool.

We had voluntary evening card games where every player showed up. How cool for a coach to see that.

We have team meals routinely...

I guess it depends on the staff.
