I just have to say, as someone who has made a living basically as a writer ... albeit in the corporate world ... the Narrative Science technology Game Changer uses that automatically generates game recaps is just mind-blowing. I've long heard that almost anything that can be reduced to a formula can be automated, and this is darned good evidence of that.
Obviously it's not perfect, but wow! If you haven't seen it, you need to. I gotta believe that over time, it will only get better.
But I'm kidding about not needing sports writers. No technology can fully capture the flavor of a ballgame.
Makes me think of the ongoing debate about replay. Where is it all going???
