The way I understand it to be: B2 (the hint: is now R2) acheived 1st. Then the throw was made. 2 bases, so R1 scores ... and R2 to 3rd. The key here is that B2 had acquired 1st. I wonder how many times, at any level, this has been done incorrectly. I wonder if I have appllied it incorrectly ... but I can't remmeber it ever happening.
Where was R1 at the time of the throw?

If R1 had touched second at the time of the throw then he scores and B/R goes to third. If R1 had not touched second then he goes to third and B/R gets second.

Also, once a B becomes a B/R (with the right to advance) he remains a B/R until he is put out or playing action ends. He doesn't become an R simply because he touched first base.
