Wearing White

The white rule is set up for the purpose of being a distraction or for allowing the pitcher to gain an advantage with runners on. Having white near the ball can be a distraction, or can add an advantage to the pitcher should runners be on base.

Umm.. most pitchers I've seen have their arm coming out of their head from the batter's standpoint during a pitch...

At least I was always taught to focus on the emblem on the hat due to its relative location to the baseball at release...

white hats are legal. The white rule applies to sleeves, items on arms and gloves....

The only reference I can give you is that they are not specifically listed as illegal in the rules .....

While I have no idea if the umpire was correct or not, the interpretation that was given to me was that white was perfectly legal as long as it was part of the standard uniform being worn by a team...still no long white sleeves, but white pants, jerseys / vests / short sleeve undershirts and hats were all fine if that was the standard uniform. Kinda makes sense that way I guess...seems to be a good reason to go with a white uniform!

White sleeves are even legal if it is a vest type uniform. Correct me PIAA,Jimmy, Dash or others.

Wasn't really an umpire call or anything.. just noticed a team doing and I know a lot of teams wearing white hats lately. I personally would hate it, but just curious..

In OBR, white sleeves are legal as long as the whole team has them. They have to be the same length on both arms but can be different for each player.

They have been used in the past in MLB but are not in general use today.

FED is legal up to the elbow of the throwing arm. Don't know if they have to both be to the elbow.
