It helps, no question about it. Obviously, you need to be strong to pitch.

Now, if you build yourself up like you belong on "Muscle Beach" in order to attract the girls, then you'll loose a bit of flexibility.

Every college pitcher lifts and trains with weights. Very few look like they can compete for the Mr. America title. Just don't get ridiculous about it. Your goal is BOTH strength and flexibility.
one cannot have all the strength in the world, BUT if one lacks the skill and timing to use it efficiently and safely, then more strength or other fitness training will never solve any problems of speed!

Don't even think of trying to throw faster until you have reached a high level of accurate, well controlled skill (mechanics).

DON'T FULL YOURSELF! For Efficient Mechanics, not strenth, is the key to arm speed!

Just remember this, If you can not control and time the kinetic chain then all the weight training in the world will never get you arm speed!

Top Gun ...

You originally came on the site, pretending to be a young high school kid. Your threads, back then quickly became twisted as you "leaped" on the first post that you thought agreed with where you wanted the thread to go and built upon it.

Such deception isn't welcome. I honestly don't believe you have anything to contribute to anyone at this point in time.
If your doing all the right things already adding weights to the equation will only increase your ability to pitch and make your a better player. If your not in the weight room as coach already stated you are behind. We start all of our Freshman on a baseball weight program. We incorporate plyos and a good stretching program into our weight program. Lets face it lifting weights is not going to make a kid look like Arnold at the High School level. Thats a cop out. The fear is not that you are going to loose flexibility the fear is you might have to work harder than your used to. Proper nutrition proper stretching and proper weight training increases your strength and stamina and makes you a bigger stronger athlete. GET IN THE WEIGHT ROOM NOW! If your coach or coaches do not know what you should be doing for baseball there are people here that will be more than glad to pm you with a very good plan. Just check out Kerrys site.
