OK, I don't know if any of you saw this the other night. Braves playing the Mets. Prado on 1st, one out. Heyward hits soft liner to left. Prado goes to 2nd and touches the bag, one ump calls the ball caught, the other calls it down. Prado heads back to 1st with his hands in the air, like "what the heck is going on?" Relay comes in, Prado is tagged near 1st base, Heyward is on 1st base.

Umps get together and decide that Heyward stays at 1st and Prado goes back to second, still one out.

I don't know if I've ever seen this where the runner is tagged out during the play, but then awarded the base and play resumes. What are y'alls thoughts on this? Did anyone else see this?

It's not really an award base, it's a "fix it" base. The ball was initially ruled a catch, but subsequently (and correctly) overturned. Whenever a reversed call puts either team at a disadvantage, the umpires have full discretion to fix it. That is just what they did.
Well, that was pretty big of them. Like I said, I don't think I've ever seen that done before. Kudos to egos not getting in the way and doing the right thing. I think both umpires made a different call at the same time, therefore confusing the runner. Maybe it was a reversal. Either way, it was good to see the right thing done.

I haven't found any video to support the double call theory.
I was watching the game. The announcers were saying that the two umps said two different things during the play. I know the defense threw the ball back to the infield and tagged Prado and it didn't look like time was called. So, I would think the ball was still live. Prado was almost walking back to 1st with his hands up looking confused about what to do when he was tagged. Umps then got together and decided to have Prado go back to second based on the fact the ball wasn't caught. It was very weird.

U3 made the call, and at first the announcers blamed U1 for also making a call. I have seen angles that show all three base umpires and I can't see a second call. I do see conversation between R1 and U1, but no signal.
