Plano West doesn't get the 1-game.. Coronado not talent filled.. National League style team, scratch out hits, will steal some bases... just playing the good field, no walks, clutch hitting game... West has more talent...

Game 1 Friday 7 Brownwood HS

and to the age old question on pitching limits... only uil rule is that a pitcher can't pitch 10 innings in a double-header.. can pitch a 15-inning, one game though...

has been momentum to legislate in past but never gets very far...

Excuse I can't stand: "The kid told me he was feeling OK" ...so when the kid tells you he should hit lead off, how's that work for you?

No, what you saw was a 5 inning run rule complete game on Friday...then the same kid came in and got 5 outs on Saturday for a grand total of 6 2/3 innings and 112 pitches (82 on Friday, 30 on Sat.). This same kid threw both ends of a DH during the summer for his team in Florida at WWBA World Series...10 innings, 125 pitches...OMG!!!

Get your facts straight!
There is probably a pretty good reason a professional pitcher will not pitch the day after he throws more than 35-40 pitches. Relievers are shut down the next day usaully after 30+ pitches. Heck, a starter will usually not go after a rain delay of more than 30 minutes if he has already thrown a couple of innings that same game.
If what is said is true about this pitcher........
the coach is risking the future of this kid for a HS playoff victory.
Don't under estimate Lubbock Coronado. Watched them play a couple @ LD Bell this spring, very focused group of boys who have a great coach who teaches the entire expanse of the game. Expect double steals, delayed steals, small ball and more. Don't expect any defensive miscues or indecision with the ball in play. They beat Martin with TCU bound Rizzoti on the mound, I'd say he and Huber are near equivalents.

Would love to see PW batters with a much more focus while on deck. Get into moment, visualize your pitch and bust it (over and over again), study the pitchers timing and prepare yourself to be the best to battle at the plate.

Overlook them and it could be an all Lubbock Region 1 final (go to with an all Klein Region 2 final).
Summertime,

I agree with your assumptions. PW needs to focus, the pitchers from FM and Jesuit were probably better than what Coronado will throw. The intangibles will win this series and if PW doesn't make errors, than they should be fine the winner of this series has a great shot to make RR and it should be fun. Good Luck to PW and Coronado.

So is a five inning run rule game a complete game? I think my facts are straight. Don't get me wrong, if the kid is willing and has that type of arm, by all means do what you're comfortable with. Regardless, it's not smart.

So you have never witnessed someone pitch a complete game then come in to pitch a couple of innings or close one out at any summer tourney? Boy you must not see much baseball.......

You are making assumptions Out in LF, never did I say I haven't seen it before.... just said it's wrong. Read before you write. I can assure you I've seen a couple of games in my past...just a few.

Sorry, no assumptions, just stating facts. See it done every weekend tourney from 12U up to 18U. Not saying its what's best for the player/team but it does happen.
