NHs ---

WVU (Never, ever, ever say UWV) is in Morgantown in the northern part of the state. The school is quite good with a very wide selection of majors. It is academically competitive with other major State Universities, but it's not "Ivy League" caliber at this time. Forensic Science is a strong program and has become a popular major owing to the proximity of the FBI forensics center nearby. Its student body comes from all over the U.S. and from many other countries. A degree from WVU is very marketable in the real world.

Morgantown is a rapidly growing, modern mid-size city --- the University is divided between the "old town" (in the original confines of Morgantown) and a relatively new campus (across town in the expanded Morgantown). The medical center, engineering, among others are in the newer section, while other academic disciplines are "downtown". The campuses are connected conveniently by a "personal rapid transport" monorail system that shuttles students/faculty across town in small cars at regular and frequent intervals. The system was installed many years ago as an "experimental" rapid transist system modeled somewhat after the BART in San Francisco.

Morgantown has all of the amenities of a major university town and is very convenient to access via I-79 and I-68. It's a very hilly town, though, and driving on the narrow streets in the older section requires close attention to avoid the walking students and the close-to-street houses. It's on the Monongahela River and there are lots of outdoor activities/sports (ski resorts, for example) nearby.

WVU plays in the Big East Conference. I can't speak to the baseball team's details, but the program is generally strong and competitive and is very worthy of consideration by any good player. The facilities are good --- the stadium is just a few hundred yards from the Basketball Colliseum, again with easy access to I-79. Weather is a factor in the early Spring games --- it's cold and damp with chance of leftover snow piles around the field in late February and March.

Sorry I don't have more details. Hope this gives you some useful info.
