Just trying to do some due diligence and wondering about the Mountaineers' program. It looks like facilities are on the upswing and the coaching staff has a connection to the Big 12, but can anyone offer more specifics on Coach Mazey, et al???

WVU is up and coming program, will continue to improve both facilities, and recruits. All coaches (Trout, Matlock, and Mazey) have connections to TX / South.....Matlock is a great pitching coach, and Mazey is doing a very good job. Send me a PM if you want to discuss anything in particular....I know the coaching staff relatively well.
Student body, and community does a great job supporting the programs...baseball included....very strong sense of Mountaineer pride. You will travel for the first month of more of the season due to weather, so being able to keep grades up during that period is important. They have an indoor facility either completed or will be completed next to the new baseball facility, so they are / have spent $ on improvements.

I have a question....why are some many top ball players in the state of WV not being looked at? is it because WVU is in the Big 12 conference?
I know a few kids that finished HS as all state 1st team capt. All conference Player of the year in AA & AAA levels. then have to take the next level out of state to play D1 ball.

I would assume it is the talent level. The Big XII is one of the best conferences in America, and the coaches need the best talent to compete. They wouldn't be looking elsewhere unless they have too.
