I was sitting here working on the computer in my office at home. My son just stopped in with his homework so I could check it out....

OK ... everything looks good and he disappears...

I am concentrating rather heavy at this point and then.....

thwack.....
thwack.....
thwack.....

What the heck is that? I think to myself.... Is the clothes dryer explosing???? Then I realize my 11 yo son has snuck off into the basement for some hitting practice.... I love the fact that he is doing this on his own, since it's basketball season and he is so wound up in it that we only just set up the hitting area in the basement a couple of weeks ago....

That is so funny, that you bring this up. My son's first baseball practice is tomorrow but about a month ago, I had the exact same experience only my 11 year old son swings into a heavy bag and it scared the holy **** out of me but I was so proud of him that he started it up all on his own and just as your son is, basketball season is in full form right now also. I have since put up a 4x8 sheet of plywood on the garage wall so he can practice his pitching and man you wanna talk about noise, but hey it is all worth it, if he is enjoying himself. I don't know how much throwing at a target 15 ft away is doing for him, but it is the best I could come up with since it 20 degrees outside and he is having fun doing it. He has already put 2 holes into the plywood already and it went through my drywall, LOL, but he sure looks like his mechanics are getting better just by doing that.
