I am a new member. My son is a sophomore this year. A friend told me about this site over spring break along with a few others. I have spent some time this weekend, checking out this and the other various sites.

This site hands down seems to have the most wide base of contributors. Very thorough and opinions from all sides. Definitely the most knowledgeable members, in my opinion. I do learn quickly.

VirginiaPreps - seems good, but I will have to break down and spend a few dollars to find out more. From first glance, seems like it is worth it.

Gameday Magazine - Not sure about this site. Seems like it should market itself as the home to mostly Liberty and Concorde District Schools and not the Northern Region. I realize this is more of a game coverage site.

Are there any other sites right off hand that you guys would suggest. As I am writing this, I thought about looking back thru old posts and will do that.

Round of applause for all of you.

I haven't looked at GameDay in a while, but I did listen to some replays of their "radio" webcasts after some state final four games a few years back. What a neat concept. I wish we had it in the Richmond area. I wonder what it would take to pair that up with a video feed? Probably more money than you could come up with, I guess.

I know JBBaseball did some color commentary for them at one time. Would love to do some of that myself, it would be a great way to BS your way through a strong matchup.

Hey, tell GameDay to set something up for us down here come regionals time.
bball father,

I rode this site from when my sons were early in high school, through their high school years, and through their college baseball years. They've finished their careers but I'm still hanging around as its' a truly wonderful site.

Truth be known, if you're the father of a son looking to play college ball, you won't find a better source of information anywhere. There are some wonderfully helpful folks that share an awful lot of good information on here, and many of us have met in person on fields throughout the country.

Welcome! Smile
Midlo,

I think Gameday normally covers the State tourneys (they did for football and basketball). I didn't know that JBBaseball did commentary for them - will have to check in on that...They also do some live streaming video of games...

BBallfather,

I think they've hit all of the Northern Region districts with games this season although they do seem to do more of the Concorde and Liberty...Might just relate to the match ups...
ohdyou,

Welcome. I agree this site has the most to offer from a VA HS perespective. For me, it ALSO has the most relevant topics from a national high school and college baseball topic perspective as well. The contributors are many, and the discussions usually leave me with something to think about.

I learned a while back that many on this site have the same goal. How folks get to that goal is the interesting read.

This site and d1baseball.com give me my daily baseball fix along with my coffee just about every morning. I like to see the college national scores & topics, and conference leaders. I've found college baseball much more exciting than professional baseball.
