My son has attended a few local showcases and just recently attended the Arizona Fall classic. From what I've heard, he did well. Knowing that some coaches cant talk to him because of his age, what can we realistically expect after this showcase? And what should my son do? He wont be going to any additional camps or showcases until next summer. Newbie dad here, any and all input welcome!

He should have contacted the schools he has interest in prior to the showcase letting them know he would be attending. Who did you hear he did well from? Hopefully his HS or summer coach has some contact with them?
I have a 2022 as well, any camp he's attended they knew about him prior because of an intro email or from his coach.
It really depends on just how well he did. Is he a pitcher or a position player? What were his measureables?
If they’re hot for him word will come back through a high school or travel coach. The best scenario is to have the travel coach presell desired targets before the event. If nothing else the player should be contacting the coach before the event expressing interest in the program and the college.
Don't be tossing spaghetti off the wall to see what sticks. Have a business plan. Make a target list. Make them aware of you. Create a line of communication. If they’re not interested it won’t take long to figure it out.

Yes they were contacted prior to. Heard from another parent in attendance who I trust plus video sent to me from 2 parents.

He pitched and played CF. They didnt test any measurables, which I'm finding odd because from what I read here they would test the 60, bat velo etc. Sounds like they only played showcase games.

Thanks. His pre showcase school list had D1, D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO programs because we have no idea where he will be able to play. The plan feels very shotgun approach on some level because it has been. He is undecided major-wise and does not have a strong feeling about the school other than a slight lean towards west coast. Any more specificity would be purely concocted by me (even though there's pressure to do so, I'm letting his non specific desires play out. When I was a senior in HS I still didnt have a strong desire towards any specific school)
With the exception of a few AZ locals, almost all of the schools at the Sophomore Classic were D1 (lots of Pac 12). Were the schools you contacted there? Unless your son's performance was D1 or left no doubt he WILL BE, I doubt you'll hear anything. Our son was there, had multiple scouts at the game he started as pitcher. Had one scout watch him pitch for all 4 innings (others cycled through), asked a few questions of our coach through the fence about him, but did not ask us to call him (fine by us, it's not a school we want). Maybe we are insulated by a coach notorious for discouraging early commits, but I think at this point they are building "watch" lists and only moving on kids that they feel might be snapped up. Good news is the number of schools in attendance will double for next year, and double the next year after that.
Keep in mind, I'm a mom of 2022 who is going through this for the first time as well. Mostly don't want your guy to get discouraged thinking everyone is getting back channel calls.
I know you are told they can’t talk to you. That’s just not true. If they want to recruit you, they will contact your coach and ask your son to call. If he Isn’t getting that, he’s probably not on their radar yet. The only schools really recruiting sophomores hard at this point will be D1. Have him email coaches, send video and keep getting better. You’ll know when you are on the radar and being recruited.
You are being recruited when RC is telling you that we will be up there to watch you play on Friday. Then follows up with a call to say they like what they saw and you are the top guy on their board at your position. Send your transcripts and we will see what kind of package we can put together for you. Soon as we know we want you to visit so we can offer. That’s when you are being recruited. Anything leading up to that is just conversation.

Good point. Too many people believe positive feedback means being recruited. It’s when positive feedback turns into steps towards an offer the player is being recruited.
Some people believe you’re not being recruited until you have offer in hand. This is the safest way to not assume anything. Sometimes teams get to steps towards making an offer, discover another player they prefer and go dark.
