I don't watch a lot of MLB anymore because of the lack of loyalty of players and teams. I stopped watching the Jays when the traded Shawn Greene. I just get sick of getting pumped on a team and seeing them trade great ball players away. Look at Boston my son's favourite team. They as many have done creat a WS team and trade key guys. It has become all about the money.

I dont hate anything

You have to live with what it is--a business--loyalty does not enter into the picture any longer-- IT IS A BUSINESS __PLAIN AND SIMPLE

I still watch and enjoy watching the skills they have--- you are talking about 750 to 800 players in the BIGS--God Bless them

It is really not much different than climbing the corporate ladder in big business

I watch baseball, whether it be MLB or Little League and everything in between.....for the baseball.

Heck, kids today jump from one team to the next all the time, why should it be any different when they are getting paid.

I just love being around baseball.....and I enjoy it enough to not concern myself with too many things outside the lines, ie. business.
I don't hate it either, but, I do think it is sad the state of affairs the MLB is in. It is a business and it's supposed to be a game. That's sad because our kids, and their's, won't be able to grow up with a favorite player on their home team because the players change teams so often based on who's going to pay the most money. Greed and disloyalty are applauded and is encouraged by people who just accept it as part of "The Business". This doesn't just apply to baseball though, it has been accepted as a way of life for many people. Again, to me, that's sad. JMHO.
Hate doesn't apply to me either, but I understand the frustration. It is certainly ok to talk about it. I still love to watch MLB even if my team and/or its players frustrate me at times. I follow certain players from other teams as well when they catch my fancy.

Here is one small suggestion for those that are just fed up. Check out minor league baseball sometime. I know that sounds simplistic, but I don't think most people realize how much fun there is to be had at such an affordable price for the entire family. Some of the new minor league parks are a joy just to be at. You just may be surprised Smile
CD

Great point--- we use minor league events for our two showcases and the poeple involved are the best you can ask to work with

We go to a number of game and it a "FUN" time

The players are there to play ball "D A M N the torpedoes" --nothing better

Speaking of good things CD have the first Dion and the Belmont's Album on the turnatable--still sounds a great as it did way back then

What do you guys mean ....players have no "loyalty" to a team? They get 6 years of FORCED loyalty, unless the owners of the team decide to trade or release the "loyal" players during the first 6 years. If the team has indeed been "loyal" to the players, the players will CHOOSE to extend this "loyalty" by not leaving via free-agency after their 6 years of "loyalty".

Of course, after the first 6 years of "loyalty"(the first 3 being paid at the sole discression of the team/collective bargaining agreement...basically, whatever amount the ownership wants to pay above the league minimum), who can blame a player for seeking the best contract he can find!

I think CD has this exactly right. I love to watch MLB and will continue to do so. Why, I love to watch the game being played by the best. But I watch it for the game and how it is played, no longer for the players and teams very much. Just as enjoyable, if not more, and my voice is not nearly as horse when I come home.
Hats off to CD on the minor league suggestion. clap greenjump Many cities have beautiful downtown parks. The players are extremely friendly and the quality of play quite high. Also, minor league teams really want you to enjoy the experience. Only downside is lots of folks are there for the sideshow and other entertainment besides the baseball and that can be a distraction. Confused I will be going to minor league games so long as I am able. agree
The disclaimer "For Entertainment Use Only" should be under the MLB logo.

I've evolved from being a "hater" to watching the game from a player development and team chemestry stand point. The business end has taken over much of the game and that's one thing you can't do a darn thing about it. I may take in a few games a year, watch the home team on TV, and maybe buy a hat. But since I do not have a significant financial interest in the MLB product who am I to criticize the business end? I need to find my niche of enjoyable entertainment and live with it. Then I root for the dog.

The only thing I really hate about MLB is the distance from the ballparks to my house.

The rest of the good, bad and ugly has always been there and most likely will be there in some form for a long time. You love the game for it's history, admire the players for their incredible skills, and relish in the hope and dreams it's given so many countless thousands of kids across the globe.

I'll take the rest of the garbage that goes along with it any time. That doesn't mean I condone it, it's just that I for one am not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

It's still a great game.
