What exactly does a pro scout mean by "live arm"

Live arm - Fastball with life! Live fastballs come from live arms!

What then do they mean by "nice run on the ball"?

I am going to guess that a "nice run on the ball," means that the ball has natural movement, at the end of the pitch mostly. Hoping to hear from someone who knows because now I am curious.

I've taken "run on the ball" as late and sharp movement. PG Staff would have a better comment on this.

Fastball side movement usually away from the pitching arm. Ex. A RHP with nice arm-side run has a fastball that "runs in" on the right-handed batters hands.

For me live arm is the same as a fast arm. Fast and live arms usually create best results when it comes to run and movement and velocity.

The key to the whole deal is to take care of that live arm so it aint a dead arm at the important times of a career...

nice run = natural movement, usually back to the arm side

See the Scott Kazmir video posted a week or so ago under General Topics. That's a live arm -- velocity AND 'nice run' on the (assuming) 2-seamer.
