What happened to just simply buying a bat?

Marketing.

I have no idea what any of it means but it probably all means the same thing.

What's your budget for bats?

Seriously, since I work overseas, I really don't know how one determines which bat is the best for them. Do the stores have cages where you can take as many cuts as you need to choose the right one? When my son needed wanted a new bat this spring, I didn't think to ask him how he knew the one he asked for was the right one. I'm guessing that marketing and price are the the real criteria used.

And on a related note, aside from the type of wood (and of course length and weight) what are the differentiators for real bats?

Well personaly I have always owned a Demarini and I like he way it feels when I hit the ball. As for the others a teamate would let me use it or the school gave us the bat. So just try different ones out during practise and then choose which is best. As for wood bats I would go to

And choose maple bats (its on the left). And they give a very detailed explantation of the bats. Hope this helps.

This is too funny, with infidel's son hitting 400, one of the top pitching prospects in the country, I don't think it's the bat he uses.
