It is great that everyone on this site is interested in helping kids move on to the next level. That is what we are all about at the site I work with.

eBaseballClub.com gives kids personal web pages that include profiles of athletics and academics, as well as an on-line video of their skills.

Coaches and scouts then search our database to find players to come to their programs.

In our videos, coaches have told us what they do and do not want to see.

They do not want to see:

Highlights, home runs or even game footage.

They want to see:

Mechanics and fundamentals.

Home runs and game footage are useless because on video it is impossible to tell what the pitching quaility was like that day, or even if the field is 400 or 200 feet deep.

Check out our site at eBaseballClub.com and when you sign-up, we give you the instructions for making a video that college coaches helped us put together. We also edit your video and host it on-line for you. You can then send out e-mails with a link to your page, and coaches search our site looking for players at the same time.

Feel free to call me at 630-655-9512 if you have any questions.

Good luck everyone!

Chris - While I am sure your orginal intentions were good, as a new person to this site I must warn you about any message boards in which you advertise or talk about your company. If you go to the rules sections of these Message Boards, you will see that Bob is very strict about doing any FREE advertising. That is why he offers advertising options to those who which to get the word out about their service.
I learned VERY quickly about all of this when I was new to this site because I made the mistake of asking the question about a website in a forum and everyone jumped on me about working for the company. They thought I was doing some undercover advertising when in reality I was merely asking about these types of companies.
So, welcome to the site and feel free to enlighten us in further forums so that we can learn from your experiences.

Without a doubt a combination of game footage and skill footage is the way to go. I have done over 100 baseball videos for aspiring college players. Although I do this professionally, it is something that can easily be done by a parent or kid with a minimal of computer skill and the right software. The trick is to accent the skill footage with comprable highlight of that skill during game footage. Be sure to include a clock on running the bases if you can. Also a great idea to use slow motion at crucial points. Be glad to answer any questions any parents or kids have. Feel free to email me. athletes@athletesoftomorrow.com.
You can view a video example to get ideas on how to do your own if you like but this is not a plug.

ILB1, I agree with you. This is not the place to advertise...there are many levels of players, coaches, parents and professional people that come to this sight for insight without obligation. About the video, I agree with TR, call the coach. In my opinion, if a parent can run a camera and has access to a camera...they can get a video that will provide a coach with the information he needs. We videod our son at the practice field getting many reps in front of live pitching, many reps in fielding, also included some time at showcases with time trials, etc. This gave the coaches a look of real times and real bp.
My intention are not to advertise...but thanks for the warning.

In fact I have e-mailed Bob a few times now and we have not heard back from him...so if you are reading the message boards please get in touch with us! We would love to advertise on your site!

Everyone's comments have been great. It does vary from coach to coach what they want to see. From our experience, game footage can be OK, but the homeruns, great catches, etc are worthless.

TRhit is absolutely right though...the video alone won't get you anywhere. It is just to get their interest. And never send one unsolicited...that is for sure! That is why a service like ours..or another site...i'm not trying to advertise here Smile, is a good option because coaches come to look instead of just getting tons and tons of tapes that they won't watch.
