Per 10.12(a)(1) Comment: Slow handling of the ball that does not involve mechanical misplay shall not be construed as an error...

...The official scorer shall no score mental mistakes or misjudgments as errors unless a specific rule prescribes otherwise.

I would say this play is not an error, but the result of a poor choice by the fielder. I would thus conclude the batter reached on a fielder's choice (no hit). Since two were out, no RBI, run is earned as no error was charged.

If the runner would've beaten the throw to first (in the scorer's judgment) and the play was made at second because of no play at first, I score hit and RBI. As described (and I wasn't there) it isn't a hit or error.
