Welcome to HSBBW TxMom. You've come to the right place. Tons of smart cookies on here who has "been there and done that".

I have to ask. What do you and/or son consider the "best offer"? Let's start there. For some reason I take it that you feel this D1 is not giving him what he wants/needs, or is the best fit.

Please enlighten us a bit more about what this D1 is saying and what you'd like to hear.
My son once had a PG ranking of 10, that brought lots of recruting interest as it should bring to your son.

I don't think that you will find many here who will advise taking the best offer, that doesn't always mean it will be the right "fit" for your son.

There are many things to consider besides who pays you the most to come play at their program, geography, degrees offered/school and classroom population, team success, your son's academics, coaching staff and their philososphy, conference and non conference schedule, state school vs private, opportunity, general college population, other NCAA sports played (my son liked those with big football and basketball programs). Most of all is it doesn't work out will he be happy there, as if he has to transfer will that be in his best interest.

If you all feel it is to early don't do it, don't do it if feel pressured, if he is good there will be many offers and he has until next spring to decide, do you homework, that's important.

If he is not ready to accept an offer or if you are looking for other options I would try to get him to the PG Jupiter event in October, even if that means signing up as an individual on a PG team. Or, there may be other websters that have teams looking to pick up players...

Also, I would also have your son e-mail coaches where he would be interested in playing and link his PG profile within the e-mail.

Since many larger D1's already have several commitments what he does in the next 2 months is important, both by e-mailing schools and if possible, attend the Jupiter event.

Other D1's have shown interest but i like the idea of emailing others with the PG link. He is going to the PG tournament in AZ with a team that recently invited him and if they like what they see, they will take him to Jupiter. I hestitate to give detail about the offer we rec'd even though i know that would help with advise. We will be holding off and waiting to see the interest now that the rating just posted. Thanks to everyone for the feedback to date.

texasproud - Since many of the top D1's have begun filling their spots, I would recommend being as proactive as possible rather than holding off and waiting to see what interest comes in.

I would also suggest contacting someone at PG (maybe Jim Arp) and asking them some questions about what type of exposure might come for a 10 rating at this point in the fall and what would be the best way to get this information out to interested coaches. It is a outstanding accomplishment, now just need to figure out the best way to capitalize on or market this recognition of his ability.

Congrats to you and your son, he sounds like a real player so he will have some great options! Best of luck.

Agreed, You need to be proactive.

You may want to set some parameters and check out 4-5 schools that meet your prioritized requirements. School size, academics, public, private, region, conference, coaching staff, financial aid options, etc...

Sure it's fun to courted. But don't rest on your laurels. Go get what you want and not settle for whats left.
Make sure your son goes to Jupiter. Availble pitchers who can pitch leave that tourney with many options.

A player with a 10 rating - the coaches are going to make sure they get a good look at him. The players with that type of rating not already signed present at this tourney will be few and far between. Good luck and keep us informed.

Is your son going on his own team or a pg team? Feel free to pm me with his name and what team he is going to be playing on and I will make sure college coaches I am in contact with know about him before hand and go take a look at him.
