This winter will be my son's first Showcase event (Indoor at that). What can we expect? What will the forum / drills he wil be run through? Being a LHP and positional player, are the expectations different?

I've heard of some showcases that feature position players one day and pitchers the next.

2013,

He will run a 60-yard dash.

He will be tested at his position(s), fielding the ball and making throws.

He will take batting practice.

He will pitch from the mound, probably in a game simulation.

Make sure he is prepared. have him work hard and be ready. Practice the 60 also. Too many kids show up at showcases and haven't prepared for the sprint. PGStaff wrote an amazing piece on the 60. Maybe you can find it.

Tell him to relax and enjoy the showcase. Talent surfaces best when pressure is not keeping it down.
