What to say if you get an offer your not sure about

We were in much the same boat. We were very honest with them, that son was still being scouted and recruited at some D1 schools he was interested in, and we looked at JC as our fallback position. We were told that by most, that our position was fine, and they would still be interested, although they wouldn't hold a scholarship open for him.

I was advised by people here, that JC's usually are the later recruiters because of scenarios like mine, and that I shouldn't worry.

So my advice is be honest, with whatever your position is.

Be honest with them and ask can you have time to think about it

Our experience was similar to CPLZ. We were up front. The high level ones wanted an answer but most said they would hold a spot open if we didn't get what we wanted.

Tell them you're excited and you really appreciate the offer, but you need to think things through to be sure you make the right decision. Ask them specifically when they need your answer. If you specifically ask, most will give you a couple of months at least, which should be enough time for you to examine your other options.
