NO im here I have just been very busy traing latley...
Let us know how it all worked out, lots of very good players play or have played freshman ball and it's an honor to play for the freshman team. Kids mature at different rates, some are full grown at 11yrs old while others are still growing at 20. Work hard and do your best with the body God gave you>

Way to go kid, Show's your no quiter.
Do you have tough skin, Cause you need tough skin to make it in baseball as in life.
Learn to take your lumps and come out on top.
You want to play rather then sit on the bench, So play where the coach put's you. And have a smile on your face and play hard.
It will work out. Have fun this season.

AttaKid, Mains3.
Nice to know you're not a figment of MICDS's imagination. Don't worry, he's a pleasant fellow once you get to know him. Or was that a fellow peasant?

Mains3:
Go the extra mile. Never walk on the field - always run. Even if it is to go to the equipment shed to fetch a rake. Take extra grounders. Communicate with the coaches about how you can get better, and then DO WHAT THEY SUGGEST.
Be a great teammate, whatever happens with playing time and where you are rostered. Volunteer to catch bullpen, especially when others look reluctant. It is a great way to increase strength, and who knows? You just might find that you have an aptitude for the best position on the diamond!

Hey, Rob! Are you making any headway with the political fringe? Keep up the good work, and let 'em know what the heartland thinks. Hope to see you in Portland.
Thanks alot guys!

Don't give up, it can happen. My son made varsity as a freshman last year for a AAAAA school. Probably was about the same height as you but weighed thirty pounds more. He is very dedicated to the sport and works hard at it every day. The first few games he ran for the catcher and then was brought in to play three innings for a couple of games and eventually started every game at the SS position replacing senior who was moved to third base. He also won the Rookie of the Year award. We never doubted he had the ability to play varsity but as many others have posted, sometimes it has to do with the need. Tryouts begin next week, looking forward to another high school season.
Rats Mom welcome to the hsbbw.
It really does have to do with needs.

Mains3,
Why are you on a baseball bulletin board asking a bunch of folks you not only don’t know, but who may or may not know what they’re talking about, and in any case have no idea what your specific situation is?
If you want to know what its gonna take for you to make the V as a Fr, talk to the VHC! Schedule a meeting with him, and talk to the guy.
But the reality of it is, you should have done that prior to your starting your freshman year. In fact, that’s something you should have done last year so you could find out if there were things you could have done during the summer. Chances are, you’ve already missed playing with the summer team if there was one, fall ball and winter conditioning, and had you participated in those things, you would have had a very good idea what it would take for you to make the V squad.

Apparently you have missed the reason for this site---to exchange views and experiences---the young man was simply asking for advice and thoughts from others who have been there
You need to chill out

Scorekeep, the kid already said he's busy training. How about take some of your own medicine and ignore uniformed advise.
Scorekeeper your points are valid. But the fact is he asked for advice and that is why we are all here. To ask and give advice. He could be in a program that does not have a summer HS team or off season work outs. What do you have to do to make the HS team? That depends alot on your HS program. All you can do it go out there and hustle , have a good attitude and play to the best of your ability. You improve your chances obviously by working hard in the off season to be the best player you can be. The last thing I would worry about is your size. You can not worry about the things you can not controll. Plus alot of kids are small when they come into HS but they can still play the game. Good Luck
We always like to have the so-called "short" player with us---last fall our CF was 5-6 and is now deciding among a number of great programs---The previous year our LF was somewhat dinutive as well but he is on scholarship at a Division II program
It can happen if you work for it
