Again, sorry if this has been covered but there are 11 pages to go through to find it in this forum! Anyhow, my son has sent out a bunch of "interest letters" to Div III and NAIA schools. He's also sent them to D2 and D1 but he's got a little time to think before they (possibly) make contact. But I notice in the NAIA and D3 rules that recruiters can start calling anytime and my son is very curious about what types of questions a recruiter would ask. He'd like to be somewhat prepared. Can someone (s) who has been through this give us a heads up as to the questions a coach would most often ask a kid? How about giving us some great answers to those questions too! (kidding)...Thanks.

Pop - A recruiting coach will typically ask what other schools he has interest in, a few will ask what other schools have contacted him (some coaches could care less), about his GPA, and what major he's interested in. I would think since your son has initiated the contact they might want to hear why he's interested in them. Your son needs to ask them about the depth at his position, what kinds of players he's recruiting as to style, position, etc. Make sure that you've researched the school, coach, and website. You want to have a much knowledge before a visit that you can - you want a coach to know you're interested, plus you need to know what questions might need some answers to satisfy things for his own fit/needs. NAIA allow workouts, so they may request your son work out with them - this is a great opportunity for your son to meet the players and for you to observe the players interact and how they respond to the coach.
There is an outstanding book written by Jack Renkens called " Recruiting Realities" that I highly recommend to anyone who is beginning this process as I am. I have found it to be invaluable as it covers everything in the recruiting process in simple, easy to follow, terms. If you can't find it at a bookstore near you they have a toll free # 1-800-242-0165
